Community Leader: Alice Axel

English | 3'02 | 7.3 MB

Alice Axel operates Alice’s Wonderland, a day care center in Richmond California. She’s also an emerging community leader, as the chair of Contra Costa County’s West County parent group, as they work to engage more parents in Prop 10 decision-making.

Alice and the group are building on their innate strengths and personal interests — as they help to organize parent dialogues and community events, by collaborating with city officials.

For example, in response to community input, the Contra Costa children and families commission brought residents dreams closer to reality. The commission allocated over $2.8 million to initiate planning and site selection for family resource centers that would directly and indirectly serve the whole community.
