As an elementary school volunteer and emerging voice for the needs of families and children, Tofi Vaioli makes a difference in many ways, some large and some small.
Tofi’s commitment to children is deeply rooted in her own life experience.She and her husband John are the parents of seven children. Knowing the future depends on a solid education for kids — from day one. Tofi also volunteers for her son’s HeadStart program.
When people noticed how she worked with parents as a chairperson for the local HeadStart programs, Tofi was chosen to participate in a Community Leadership training program sponsored by the First Five San Mateo commission.
Tofi and the other parents in the leadership program are building on their own natural skills and commitments — and learning about resources available for children and families in their area.
For Tofi, the key is more parent involvement, in order that better decisions can be made and more resources can be accessed for the needs of children and families.
