Smoking Cessation Help Line
CALIFORNIA SMOKER'S HELPLINE
The California Smokers’ Helpline (1-800-NO-BUTTS) is a free statewide telephone program funded by Prop. 99 and First 5 California that offers a choice of services: self-help materials, a referral list of other tobacco cessation programs in the county, and confidential, one-on-one counseling services over the phone.
The project will initiate or expand education activities to local county funded First 5 providers on the importance of tobacco cessation and reduction of secondhand smoke exposure for clients with children 0-5, as well as the services of the Helpline.
• Technical assistance will include:
1) Provide 1-2 hour trainings on a county level to all First 5 funded agencies staff regarding the Helpline services and the Ask Advise Refer model. For the current list of trainings, visit http://www.CenterForCessation.org
2) Provide resources for distribution to First 5 funded agencies to increase awareness of Helpline services and assist in referral to Helpline services.
Each training, scheduled by request, will be adapted for the appropriate audience, for example: healthcare providers, childcare providers, non-profit agencies and school staff.
