An Association of County Children and Families Commissions
Investing in Nutrition and Physical Activity For Children Birth to 5
First 5 Alpine provides funding to the County Office of Education’s Early Learning Center that serves infants through preschoolers. Funding is provided for the Color Me Healthy nutrition and physical activity curriculum taught in public health nurse-led parent education classes at the Center. The evaluation component for this new program is being currently developed. Nutrition and diabetes education is also provided to Native American children through in-home visits. The Commission also partners with a public health nurse to bring WIC services to Alpine county residents, using staff and services located in nearby El Dorado County.
