Investing in Nutrition and Physical Activity For Children Birth to 5
The research evidence on how to best prevent overweight in young children and address obesity when it occurs is still evolving. As a result, promising practices are still being tested as the research continues to guide us. Some of the most promising strategies for addressing early childhood overweight and building healthy habits start during pregnancy and continue throughout the early years of a child’s life. What children eat and their participation in active play and physical activity is strongly influenced by parents and other caregivers. The most effective strategies address the issue at not only the individual child or parent level, but also the community level. The list of suggestions below reflect our current knowledge.
