Investing in Nutrition and Physical Activity For Children Birth to 5
A major component of the First 5 Association's collaboration with Network for a Healthy California focused on a a review of curricula and other resources developed to support children ages zero to five and their families. The Association identified the most readily available and widely used resources and convened a group of eight experts and practitioners from across California to review the materials. Representatives from the following organizations participated in this project: UC Berkeley, UC Cooperative Extension, California Resource and Referral Network, Head Start Region IX, California Association of Nutrition & Activity Programs, and the First 5 Association. The goal of this project was not a scientific evaluation of the materials, but rather a review and assessment of resources to determine their potential use in programs serving children 0-5 and their families. For each curriculum, we have provided a summary of the resources, their strengths and limitations, an overall assessment of the resources as a whole and recommendations for future work in this area.
